    Golden Ears Park
Take the old logging road up from Mike Lake to near the top of Alouette Mountain. Descents along this road are fast, and the Eric Dunning trail breaks off about two thirds of the way down for a slightly more challenging alternative. There are a couple other trails open to mountain bikes in the park, including the East Canyon Trail. rom Highway 7 in Maple Ridge, head north on 232, then east on Fern Cres. Watch for gravel road to Mike Lake on your left, 4.5 km past the park gate.

    Hemlock Valley
No, they're not keeping the lifts going all summer. Rather, it's a long, hot grunt up the top of the Hemlock ski area. From here, the Fleetwood/Chehalis logging roads are your playground. Of course, these head down the wrong side of the mountain, so you'll either have to a) have left your car at the very bottom of the access road, b)bike back up to the ski area, or c)either arrange for a drop off or a shuttle to the top. Oh yeah, there's also d)go back down the way you came up. Whatever. Descending the backside of Hemlock can be tricky, and isn't recommended for new riders.
Access: About 35 km past Mission on Highway 7 (Lougheed) is Morris Valley Rd. Turn left. Follow signs to Hemlock Valley.
